74LS86 is a quadruple XOR gate IC. There are three types of gates AND, NOT, and NAND gates but with these gates, we can make multiple gates according to the requirement. Four independent positive logic 2-input exclusive OR (XOR) Gates are included in the 74LS86 IC package. It belongs to the 74XXYY IC family.

How to Use 74LS86

The 74LS86 is based on the basic three gates' simple logic. The 7486 is a logical circuit with two AND gates, two NOT gates, and one OR gate. At input pins, the NOT gate will be employed, and the input will be passed to the AND gates without being inverted. The output from both AND gates will then be fed into the OR gate, which will then get the final output. The following is a circuit diagram.

The OR gate only delivers a LOW output when both inputs are LOW; in this case, the NOT and AND gates are filtering the HIGH states before they reach the OR gates. The XOR gate circuit is created using this simple filtering method. Other combinations can be used to create the XOR gate, but each XOR gate will produce a different output depending on the inputs. A truth table can be used to represent the inputs and outcomes.

Circuit Using 74LS86 Gate IC

We're going to use a 1K resistor to draw both gate inputs to the ground in this XOR gate design. The inputs are then connected to electricity through a button.
