ATTINY85-20SU Description

The ATTINY85-20SU is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit AVR RISC -based Microcontroller that includes 512B EEPROM, 6 general-purpose I/O lines, 32 general-purpose working registers, one 8-bit timer/counter with compare modes, one 8-bit high-speed timer/counter,  USI , internal and external  Interrupts , 4-channel 10-bit A/D converter, programmable watchdog timer with internal oscillator, three The device runs between 2.7 and 5.5V and has a throughput of 20 MIPS @ 20 MHz. The device achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz by executing strong instructions in a single clock cycle, balancing power consumption and processing performance.

ATTINY85-20SU Pinout

The following shows the ATTINY85-20SU Pinout.

Pinout

Pin Number Pin Name Description
8 VCC Supply voltage.
4 GND Ground.
1-3,5-7 Port B (PB5:PB0) Port B is a 6-bit bi-directional I/O port with internal pull-up resistors (selected for each bit). The Port B output buffers
have symmetrical drive characteristics with both high sink and source capability. As inputs, Port B pins that are
externally pulled low will source current if the pull-up resistors are activated. The Port B pins are tri-stated when a
reset condition becomes active, even if the clock is not running.
RESET Reset input. A low level on this pin for longer than the minimum pulse length will generate a reset, even if the clock is not running and provided the reset pin has not been disabled. Shorter pulses are not guaranteed to generate a reset.
The reset pin can also be used as a (weak) I/O pin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can ATtiny85 be used for?
ATtiny85 is an 8-bit AVR microcontroller that comes with 8-pin interface and mainly used in automation and Arduino projects. The CPU is based on RISC architecture and is mainly called low power controller that stands fit for the real-time applications that can operate on minimum power.
How do I program ATtiny85 without Arduino?
For programming the ATtiny85 without Arduino, we would first have to upload a bootloader into it using an Arduino UNO board, this is a one-time process and after this is done, we will not be needing the UNO board again. Boot-loader is a special program that runs in the microcontroller that has to be programmed.
Can ATtiny85 be reprogrammed?
As you may have noticed, the ATtiny85 doesn't feature a programming port like the Arduino Uno or Nano do. Instead, you'll need to use a programmer as a go-between from the computer and the chip.
How many MIPS does the ATTINY85-20SU achieve throughputs?
1 MIPS per MHz.
