The BC338 is an NPN bipolar transistor in the TO-92 package.
The BC338 is an NPN bipolar transistor in the TO-92 package. Its max collector current is 800mA hence it can drive a variety of loads in electronic circuits. Its collector-emitter voltage is 30V therefore is can easily drive loads from 12V to 24V. Apart from that, with a max collector dissipation of 0.625 mW and a max current gain of 630, the BC338 can perform well in audio frequency-related applications. The max transition frequency (fT) of the BC338 transistor is 200 MHz therefore it can perform smoothly under the 200 MHz frequency band region.
The BC338 has a current gain between 100 and 630. The gain of the BC338-16 ranges from 100 to 250, BC338-25 ranges from 160 to 400, and BC338-40 ranges from 250 to 630.

The BC338 is designed to use in a variety of switching and amplification applications. When used as a switch or to control load it can handle a max of 800mA which is useful to control a variety of different devices in the circuit. For example, it can be used to drive high current relay switches, power transistors, high power LEDs, etc. The BC338 can also be used in audio applications like audio amplifier stages, audio preamplifier stages, etc. Due to its good collector dissipation and high DC current gain it can also be used to amplify any type of signal. With an emitter-base voltage of only 5V, the BC338 can also be used at the output of microcontrollers.
