BD136 Description

BD136 is a PNP general purpose transistor mainly used for switching and amplification purpose. As a switch it can handle or drive maximum load of -1.5A continuously with -45V load voltage. It can also perform well as an amplifier thus it can be used in many audio and other type of signal amplification circuits.

This transistor is manufactured in TO-126 package. It can handle or drive maximum collector current of -1.5A hence we cannot connect loads that consume more than 1.5A using this transistor. And the maximum pulse current is 2A but a good and suitable heatsink must be required with the transistor to operate it without an problem. It comes with three terminals named as emitter, collector and base.

Where to use BD136?

The BD136 is a medium power PNP transistor. It can be used to control heavy loads since it has a high collector current value of 1.5A.

Another peculiar fact about this transistor is that it comes in plastic package, while most medium power transistor are available only in metal can package.

This reduces the cost of the Transistor and also since the package is not conductive it will not be affected by other noise in the circuit. Due to this feature this transistor is widely used in amplifier applications.

So if you are looking for a medium power PNP transistor in Plastic package then this Transistor might be the right choice for you.
