The CR1216 battery is a non-rechargeable coin/button cell battery that is commonly used in small appliances and gadgets such as watches, calculators, remote controls, credit-card-sized devices, and so on. It is a non-rechargeable manganese lithium battery with physical dimensions of 12.5 x 1.6 mm, a nominal voltage of 3.0 volts, a typical capacity of 25 mAh, and a typical drain current of 0.1 mA, and a nominal voltage of 3.0 volts. The CR1216 is compatible with a wide range of timepieces, particularly those from the Timex brand. It contains all of the power you'll need to keep your watch running and keeping accurate time. Small clocks, keyless remotes, calculators, and even small toys all require these batteries.

The CR1216 battery can be replaced with a BR1216 battery (non-rechargeable carbon-monofluoride lithium battery), which has a slightly lower (on average 2.8 vs 3.0 volts) but more stable voltage during use and lower discharge current - the BR1216 battery should NOT be used with watches that have an alarm or LED.
Because modern CR1216 batteries do not contain mercury, cadmium, or other hazardous metals, they are poisonous.
CR1216 batteries, on the other hand, are little, bright items that can be ingested by dogs or children; when they come into touch with human fluids, they can produce electrolysis, which can be fatal to living tissue.
Although CR1216 batteries do not do as much damage as larger ones such as CR2032 cells, they are still dangerous, which is why so many CR and other comparable batteries are packaged in 'pets-safe' or 'kids-safe' containers. However, if something like this occurs, make sure to contact local emergency services right away and follow their advice.
