HTS221 Description

The HTS221 is a super-compact relative humidity and temperature sensor. It has a sensor element as well as a mixed-signal ASIC that provides measurement data via digital serial ports.

A polymer dielectric planar capacitor structure capable of detecting relative humidity variations makes up the sensor element, which is made via a special ST method.

How to use HTS221

As the HTS221 electrical connection is shown above. The VDD line is used to power the gadget. The power supply decoupling capacitor (100 nF ceramic) should be installed as close to the device's supply pad as practicable (common design practice). Through the I2C/SPI interfaces, the device's functionality and measured data outputs can be selected and accessed. The CS line must be tied high (i.e. linked to VDD) or left unconnected to pick the I2C interface (thanks to the internal pull-up). To ensure optimal IC behaviour, all voltage and ground supplies must be present at the same time.
