IRF9540 Description

The IRF9540 is a P channel MOSFET transistor with switching and amplification capabilities. The transistor can drive a maximum load of -19A with a load voltage of -100V, and a maximum load of -76A in pulse mode.

The transistor has a fast switching rate as well as a low drain-to-source resistance. The transistor's fast switching speed might be advantageous in cases where the designer needs to switch the system or load in nanoseconds to avoid disconnection in the derived circuit. Low drain to source resistance, on the other hand, decreases power loss and improves transistor efficiency.

Where & How to Use IRF9540?

The IRF9540 can be utilized for high-speed switching, as well as general-purpose switching and amplification. The transistor is utilized in the same way as any other general-purpose MOSFET.

How to Make IRF9540 Safely Long Run in a Circuit?

It is best not to use any transistor at its maximum ratings or limits for long-term performance, and the same is true for the IRF9540 transistor. Because the maximum drain to source current is -19A, no-load greater than -15.2A should be applied. Because the maximum drain to source voltage is -100V, do not drive loads more than -80V, use an appropriate heatsink with the transistor, and store or use the transistor at temperatures between -55 and +150 ℃

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IRF9540?
IRF9540 is a P-channel MOSFET that can drive maximum load current up to -19A and voltage up to -100V. In pulse mode, it can withstand a load up to -72A. ... This MOSFET has low gate driving capability by which users can operate devices directly from the output of ICs or microcontrollers.
What are power MOSFETs used for?
Power MOSFETs are widely used in transportation technology, which includes a wide range of vehicles. In the automotive industry, power MOSFETs are widely used in automotive electronics. Power MOSFETs (including DMOS, LDMOS and VMOS) are commonly used for a wide range of other applications.
How much voltage can a MOSFET handle?
A MOSFET can handle only its maximum rated voltage, called the “blocking voltage” or “absolute maximum voltage rating.” Some power MOSFETs can handle as many as 1,500 volts, while more typical high-voltage power MOSFETs can handle up to 100V
