The LM1117T is a low dropout voltage regulator with a dropout of 1.2V at 800mA of load current. The LM1117T comes in an adjustable variant that allows you to modify the output voltage from 5 to 13.8 volts with only two external resistors. It's also available with a set voltage of 5V. Current limiting and thermal shutdown are features of the LM1117T, A zener trimmed bandgap reference is used in the circuit to ensure output voltage accuracy to within 1%. The LM1117T is available in D-PAK packages TO-220.
