LM2902 Overview

The LM2902 Op-Amp is a low-cost, high-Performance Quadruple Operational Amplifier, i.e. it consists of four independent high-gain frequency-compensated operational amplifiers that are designed specifically to operate from a single supply or split supply over a wide range of voltages. This circuit consists of four independent, high-gain operational amplifiers (op amps) which employ internal frequency compensation and are specifically designed for automotive and industrial control systems. The device operates from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from split power supplies is also possible and the low-power supply current drain is independent from the power supply voltage magnitude.

Where to use LM2902 Op-Amp

The LM2902 is a Quad Package Operational Amplifier, meaning it has four Op-Amps inside it and each Op-Amp can be used independently. The LM2902 series consists of four independent, high-gain, internally frequency compensated operational amplifiers designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from split-power supplies is also possible and the low-power supply current drain is independent of the magnitude of the power supply voltage.

Application areas include transducer amplifiers, DC gain blocks and all the conventional op amp circuits which now can be more easily implemented in single power supply systems. For example, the LM2902 series can directly operate off of the standard 5-V power supply voltage which is used in digital systems and easily provides the required interface electronics without requiring the additional ±15 V power supplies.

How to use LM2902 Op-Amp

We can use this IC for audio pre-amplification, basic comparator, adder, and subtractor devices.

In the above circuit, the LM2902 Op-amp is configured as a non-inverting configuration. The gain of the op-amp is set to 10. For that, we have used a 1K resistor and a 9.1K resistor, as you can see for the simulation, we have used a variable potentiometer. By varying the potentiometer, we can vary the input voltage and the output voltage will also vary, to power the op-amp, we have used +12V and -12V supply, as the gain of the op-amp is 10, so if we provide 1V at the input, we will get 10V at the output, the simulated circuit shows exactly that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LM2902 an op amp or a comparator? What is the difference between it and LM2904?
LM2902 is a low-power four operational amplifier, basically the same as LM324. LM2904 is a low-power dual operational amplifier, basically the same as LM358.
What kind of op amp is LM2902 and how to use it?
LM2902 is a wide-voltage, single-supply, industrial-grade temperature range chip; there are four groups of independent operational amplifiers inside, which can be used in combination, or any group of them can be used alone.
What can be used to replace LM2902?
LM2902 can be replaced by LM124/224/324. But the power supply voltage is different. The power supply voltage of LM124/224/324 is 32V or plus or minus 16V, while the power supply voltage of LM2902 is 26V or plus or minus 13V.
Which is better, LM2902 or LM324?
The offset voltage, offset current, and input bias current of LM2902 and LM324 are the same in the manual. The difference is the power supply voltage. The power supply voltage of LM324 is 32V or plus or minus 16V, and the power supply voltage of LM2902 is 26V or plus or minus 13V. The operating temperature range is different, LM324 is 0 degrees ~ 70 degrees, LM2902 is -40 degrees ~ 85 degrees. If the power supply voltage is less than 26V or plus or minus 13V, use LM2902.
What is the difference between LM2902 and LM224? Is it interchangeable?
LM2902 and LM224 are both low-power four operational amplifiers with the same pin arrangement. The power supply voltage of LM2902 is up to 26V for single power supply and 13V for dual power supply. The power supply voltage of LM224 is up to 32V for single power supply, plus or minus 16V for dual power supply, industrial grade. The input offset current of LM224 is smaller than LM2902. The requirement for the offset current in the circuit is small, and it can be interchanged when the power supply voltage allows.
