MCP6002 Description

The MCP6002 operational amplifier (Op Amps) from Microchip Technology Inc. is designed for general-purpose applications. The  Gain Bandwidth Product  (GBWP) of this family is 1 MHz, with a 90° phase margin (typical). With a 500 pF capacitive load, it also maintains a 45° phase margin (typical). This family draws 100 A (typical) quiescent current and runs on a single supply voltage as low as 1.8V. With a Common-mode input voltage range of VDD + 300 mV to VSS – 300 mV, the MCP6002 also allows rail-to-rail input and output swing.

Microchip's superior CMOS technology was used to create this Op Amp series. With a power supply range of 1.8V to 6.0V, the MCP6002 is available in industrial and extended temperature ranges.

MCP6002 Test Circuits

AC and DC Test Circuit for Most Specifications

The circuit used for most DC and AC tests is shown in the pic above. This circuit can independently set VCM and VOUT; also see Equation. Note that VCM is not the circuit’s Common-mode voltage ((VP + VM)/2) and that VOST includes VOS plus the effects (on the input offset error, VOST) of temperature, CMRR, PSRR and AOL.

 

MCP6002 Biosensor Array Galvanic Skin Response

Sean Montgomery built a GSR circuit that uses no microcontroller and a low & high pass filter in the circuit to create a 0.48Hz to 4.8Hz bandpass.

Sean designed this circuit for an early version of his Truth Wristband project. Because it produces a simple analog output that is already filtered, this circuit, known as the Truth Meter, is utilized as the biosensor array GSR prototype. The Arduino code and the graphing display application on the computer become less complicated as a result.
