How to Use MIC5205

The enable pin on the MIC5205 low dropout regulator can be used to turn on or off the regulator, which allows designers to turn off the regulator and save battery power when not in use. For better noise performance, a capacitor from ADJ to ground is utilized. Using the below circuit, the Adjust pin is utilized to set the regulator's output voltage to the desired value.

MIC5205 Application Circuit

Using two external resistors of different values, the MIC5205 can be set to a specified output voltage. As you can see, the output voltage Vout of our regulator is determined by the values of the resistors R1 and R2. The output voltage is determined by the resistors using the following equation:

V = 1.242V × (R2\R1 + 1)

 

The dropout voltage of the regulator can vary between 17mV to a maximum of 150mV based on the current drawn from the regulator.
