MJE340 Description

MJE340 is a high-voltage NPN silicon BJT transistor packaged in a TO-126 package. The transistor's maximum collector-emitter and collector-base voltages are up to 300V, making it suitable for a wide range of high-voltage applications. For a maximum load of 0.5A or 500mADC, the device can be employed in any standard high voltage switching application. It can also be utilized in low-power and battery-operated systems for switching.

The MJE340 is not only confined to the above-mentioned applications but may also be used for amplification. Its 20W collector dissipation makes it excellent for a wide range of general-purpose audio amplification applications.

Where & How to Use MJE340?

The MJE340 can switch and drive up to 500mA DC high voltage applications and loads. It can power a wide range of high-voltage loads, including other high-power transistors, relays, and switches.

It can also be used in low-voltage battery-operated circuits to power low-voltage relays, LEDs, switches, and high-current transistors, among other things. Aside from that, it can be used as a standalone audio amplifier at an audio equipment's output to drive a speaker directly or in stages of an audio amplifier circuit.

How to Make MJE340 Safely Long Run in a Circuit?

We always recommend avoiding exceeding a component's maximum specifications limitations and staying at least 20% below its maximum ratings for long-term and steady performance; this rule applies to all components and will thus apply to the MJE340 as well. Because this transistor's maximum load is 500mA, use it to drive 400mA to be safe. 300V is the maximum load voltage (Apply max 240 to be safe). Use a suitable heatsink with the transistor, and store and operate it at temperatures between -65 and +150 ℃.
