MPSA18 Description

The MPSA18 is an NPN General Purpose Transistor with a high gain and low noise. It can magnify even very low-power signals while maintaining a decent signal-to-noise ratio. The transistor has a maximum gain of 1500 and a noise figure of only 1.5dB, making it excellent for situations where amplification of extremely small or low gain signals to high gain is required.

Where and How to Use MPSA18 Transistor

MPSA18 can be utilized in a wide range of applications where a small signal or low gain signal needs to be amplified to a high gain signal, such as radio receiver circuits, radio receiver front end circuits, audio preamplifiers, and any form of low-level signal in electronics. It can also be employed in many RF applications below 100MHz.

MPSA18 transistor preamplifier circuits

MPSA18 Application Circuit

MPSA18 transistors and various passive components make up the preamplifier circuit.

The preamplifier's purpose is to strengthen the audio signal before it enters the main amplifier stage, where it is amplified by the 5 stage MPSA18 transistor.
