The S9013 transistor can be utilized in a variety of electrical applications, and it is a must-have in any electronics lab. How to use S9013?

The S9013 is a high-current, fast NPN transistor that can be used for switching and amplification in a variety of applications. It features a 140 MHz switching frequency. The transistor's switching frequency is the frequency at which the current gain decreases to one and the transistor can no longer amplify the signal. Internal parasitic capacitance is to blame for the reduced bandwidth.

The S9013 has a collector current rating of 500mA, which is quite high. At large currents, however, the gain quickly diminishes, and a base current of up to 50mA is required to obtain high collector currents. It is also necessary to consider power dissipation. While the package can dissipate 625mW, the TO-92 case's thermal resistance limits the practical power dissipation. The thermal resistance per watt is measured in degrees Celsius. It specifies the temperature rise for given power dissipation, with the junction temperature never exceeding 150 degrees Celsius.
