The TIP32C is a silicon Epitaxial-base PNP power transistor in Jedec TO-220 plastic package.
The TIP32C is a silicon Epitaxial-base PNP power transistor in Jedec TO-220 plastic package. It is intended for use in medium power linear and switching applications. The complementary NPN type is TIP31C.
The TIP32C can handle a maximum load of 3A and a maximum peak current of 5A, the maximum load voltage limit is 100V. The TIP32C can also be used as an amplifier. A max collector dissipation of 40W makes it ideal for audio amplifier stages and as a separate amplifier to drive speaker.

Darlington Circuit Schematic

Although TIP32C has high collector current and current gain, it is fairly simple to control the device since it has an Emitter-Base voltage (VBE) of only 5V and base current of only 120mA. But since we are dealing with high current, a heat sink is recommended for there will be good heat dissipation from switching applications. And it can also be used as a switch for its capability of driving 3A load, hence it can be used to drive DC motors, LEDs, relays, bulbs and also at the output of arduio, raspberry pi and other platforms.
Also the Transistor can be driven directly from PWM signal since the Emitter-Base voltage is less, however the PWM should source enough current for complete saturation of the Transistor. The current through the base pin has to be limited; you can use even a 1K resistor if your collector current requirement is less.
