The TPS54824RNVR is a synchronous step-down (buck) converter with two integrated n-channel MOSFETs that operates at 17 V and 8 A. The device employs a constant frequency, peak current mode control to increase performance during line and load transients, while also simplifying external frequency adjustment. When selecting the output filter components, the switching frequency range of 200 kHz to 1600 kHz enables for efficiency and size optimization. A resistor to ground on the RT/CLK pin is used to alter the switching frequency. In addition, the TPS54824 contains an internal phase lock loop (PLL) attached to the RT/CLK pin, which can be used to synchronize the switching cycle to the falling edge of an external system clock.
