WS2813 is an intelligent control LED light source that the control circuit and RGB chip are integrated into a package of 5050 components. Its internal includes intelligent digital port data latch and signal reshaping amplification drive circuit. A precision internal oscillator and a 12V voltage programmable constant current control portion are also included, resulting in an exceedingly consistent color effect.

The signal waveform shaping is achieved using the built-in signal reshaping circuit, with no signal waveform distortion.

A full-color display of 256 * 256 * 256=16777216 and a refresh frequency of 2 kHz / s are achieved by each pixel having a gray level of 256 levels.

A single line of the signal is used to receive and decode data in the serial cascade interface. Its continuous transmitting signal break-point is in the dual-signal wires version.

How to use WS2813

A single NZR communication mode is used in the data transfer protocol.

After the pixel power-on reset, the DIN port gets data from the controller; the first pixel gathers initial 24bit data and delivers it to the internal data latch; the other data is reshaped by the internal signal reshaping amplification circuit and sent to the next cascade pixel via the DO port.

After transmission, each pixel's signal is reduced to 24 bits.

Each WS2813 LED pixel uses auto-reshaping transmission technology, which means that the pixel cascade numbers do not refer to the signal's transmission, but merely to the speed at which it is transmitted.

After 24bit data phagocytosis, the BIN gets the data signal and compares it to the DIN side; if DIN does not receive the signal, the BIN switches to accepting the input signal, guaranteeing that any IC damage does not disrupt signal cascade transmission.

Ensure that the BIN is in the receiving signal mode until it resumes after powering down.

WS2813 vs. WS2812B

The LED bypass property of the two LED strips is the most significant distinction between WS2813 and WS2812B. One of the most significant advantages of the WS2813 over the WS2812B is that it operates on dual-signal cables with continuous signal break-point transmission.

This implies that if one of the LEDs in the middle of the chain burns out, the circuit will remain closed and the other LEDs will continue to light up. The remaining LEDs will continue to function normally as long as no other adjacent LEDs are broken. When one LED in a WS2812B strip is broken or burnt, the circuit is interrupted, and the remaining LEDs in the chain will not work.

This is because the earlier WS1812B only has one data signal; therefore a broken LED would prohibit the other LEDs from functioning. The WS2813 LED, on the other hand, has two data signals, which implies that until two neighboring LEDs are destroyed, any pixel failure in the chain will not impair signal flow. It's not so bad if only one of the LEDs fails. While you consider repairs, the rest might continue to flash as usual.
